SEND AN EMAIL: Protect Local Control in Texas

Texas must protect the local rights of its citizens and taxpayers by ensuring that books are reviewed at the local level rather than the state level.

House Bill 183, filed for the 2025 Texas legislative session, poses a significant threat to local communities statewide.
This bill takes away local control from parents, students, and local taxpayers to review local library materials and gives it to the State Board of Education (SBOE). By usurping local controls, the Texas state legislature risks institutionalizing thought policing and censorship while acting as the arbiter of knowledge without the necessary know-how or experience.
We need Texans to fight back against this governmental overreach against our freedoms.  Send an email to your legislators asking them to stand up for your right to read and put a stop to HB183.
