Take action: stop national censorship bill, H.R. 7661.
Call your US House Representative, now!
United States House Resolution 7661 threatens to expand Texas’s unconstitutional, anti-LGBTQ+ censorship laws and local school board policies to every public school in the country.
H.R. 7661 is a national censorship bill designed to withhold federal funding from public schools who refuse to prohibit access to LGBTQ+ inclusive and affirming books and materials, for people under 18 years old.
Texans know these tactics all too well. Americans don’t have to look past the mass removals of LGBTQ+ inclusive books in Katy ISD and Conroe ISD to see what will happen if H.R. 7661 becomes the law of the land.
This week, this harmful legislation was favorably voted out of the House Committee on Education and Workforce, and will proceed to the full House of Representatives for consideration.
Take action to oppose H.R. 7661 now.
Contact your United States House Representative and ask them to vote “NO” on H.R. 7661 when it comes to the house floor.
Optionally, you may also ask your Representative to support H.R. 6440, the Right to Read Act, which would increase funding for school libraries and support efforts to improve student literacy across the United States.
